Greece – Photos from our travels

We spent almost 3 months in Greece, from mid Jan to mid April, mostly on the mainland, although we did go to one island, Evia. The most surprising thing was the weather, it was a lot colder than I was expecting! Although we did have some really beautiful weather too.

This was our route (only approximately, you can only have a limited number of points on Google Maps):

We got the ferry from Bari in Italy to Igoumenitsa and then fairly quickly travelled down to theĀ Peloponnese, assuming it would be a little warmer there, although it wasn’t much different. We stayed on a campsite in Gythio for a month over the worst of the winter, the campsite has a large shared room with heating where we could spend our time when it was too cold and wet!

  1. How do you eat when travelling? It seems to take up a lot of my time trying to gather all the ingredients etc just being at home! But then I am pretty new to the raw thing and we are vegan so it probably complicates things even further but my tastes have changed and grabbing anything makes me feel ill. Do you have to plan?

    • I made a post just over a year ago on my daily diet, I had a quick scan through it and I don’t think things have changed too much (been travelling for over 2 years now!): https://www.rawrob.com/2011/03/02/my-daily-diet-what-a-raw-fooder-eats/
I think things seem harder when you first start, I’ve been eating raw for 7 or 8 years now so it’s just natural for me. I tend to eat fairly simply in general, no complicated recipes, especially while travelling.
Don’t plan as such, apart from soaking seeds and dried fruit for breakfast before going to bed. And by making sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables – we make these when we have time, and they keep a while for instant food.
